SISTER COMIC

EPIC GAMER COMIC was a project I started in late 2018 as a joke. At the time, I had read another popular gamer comic, Powerup Comics! and was under the impression that it hadn't been running since the late 2000's. So I thought, "hey! there's an opening in the internet comics niche for an ironic gamer comic!" And that's what I made. In my sketchbook, I designed two perfectly GenEric gamers, and set about making 8 ironic gamer comics. This was around August of that year. It took me until December to actually digitalize and release the first ones. I released about 12 of them into early 2019, and then stopped because they weren't getting much attention and I didn't really care all that much.

In March of 2020, a recent trend on the internet was pairing the Doom Guy and Isabelle from Animal Crossing as friends due to Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing New Horizons sharing a release date. It was cute enough at first, but after seeing it every day for a long time, I got sick of it. And luckily, I had the perfect canvas to express these frustrations on. Epic Gamer Comic 13 was made, and it absolutely blew up. And from then on out, I continued to make these, over 300 of them in fact.

I owe pretty much my entire online presence to EPIC GAMER COMIC. The attention I gained from making these springboarded me into being able to get eyes on my other projects, and to just have a nice little community around my work in general. If you've ever read and laughed at EPIC GAMER COMIC, thank you so much. And if you've hated them? Good! I'm glad my work can arouse such a variety of emotions in people. I will continue to make comics and art and animation and so forth and so on as long as I can, whether I'm loved or hated for it, so I hope you look forward to what the future holds.
